Bless Me Ultima Chapter XI Outline Paraphrase: Cico takes Antonio to see the Golden Carp. He also tells Tony the story of the mermaid and the lake, in which the mermaid will try to lure you into the lake with her music, and you will die. And when the Golden Carp comes back, he will punish the sinners, by flooding them. This makes Antonio question his own God. As usual there is another dream, in which his mother says that Antonio was baptized with the water from the moon, and his father says it was with the salt water from the ocean, and the heaves start to rumble. Then Ultima comes, and explains how they are both the same, and the heavens calm. Techniques: · The dream is a good writing technique, because it couldn't be presented as well any other way. They would have to write it as though he was talking to himself, or somebody else, which might then be taken out of context. · I think I can use characterization as a technique, because we learn a little more about Antonio. He is not as stable about religion as we might have thought, because he so easily questions his religion.
