Bless Me Ultima Chapter IV Outline Paraphrase: This chapter begins when summer is coming to an end. Antonio and Ultima search for herbs and roots that Ultima can use in her medicines. She made Antonio observe the plant by how looked and felt, and before he could uproot it she made him explain to the plant why it was being removed from his home. Ultima and Antonio can sense the presence of the river, I assume it's the one where Lupito was shot. Nearing the end of the chapter Antonio explains God's wrath but the Virgen de Guadalupe's forgiveness. That night Antonio has a dream where his mother is crying asking the virgin to return her sons, and the virgin said her sons would return safely. His mother then asks her to make her fourth son a priest, but he sees her mourning for the forth son. He screamed "Mother of God" waking from his dream, and with Ultima's hand on his forehead he fell back to sleep. Techniques: · The author uses the names of real herbs which I think is too partially make it so that the reader can relate to the story some-what and say "I use that herb for cooking too." · I think his dream on page 45 is that something bad is going to happen to him (that's why is mother is mourning).
